Providence Films has assembled a production team with the experience, skills, and industry relationships necessary to achieve it’s goal of producing Fathers of The Sport within its given budget parameters and on schedule. The production team is committed to delivering a quality product with the highest production value possible.

Xavier "X" Mitchell—Director/Producer

As the visionary behind Fathers of the Sport, Xavier Mitchell brings to the project not only his deep respect and knowledge of the game of basketball, but also his many relationships with basketball “royalty and legends” who lend unparrallelled credibility and integrity. Mr. Mitchell has worked in the entertainment industry for fifteen years, developing, producing, and directing many music videos, commercials, and corporate training videos. He also has extensive experience in the music world as a live music concert producer, manager, and promoter. Currently, Mr. Mitchell is a producer on "The Rucker", a star-studded basketball-themed feature film produced by Maloof Production.

Blaine McManus--Producer

Blaine McManus, a Lafayette, Louisiana native, has been living and working between Los Angeles and Louisiana for the past 17 years. His experience includes writing and packaging sitcoms and reality television, production designing and art directing numerous films, commercials, television specials, and music videos, and producing feature films and television shows.  In 1997  McManus founded Trace Entertainment, a film and television production design company servicing clients such as Pacific Bell, Nissan and Gatorade, as well as music videos for The Backstreet Boys, Snoop Dogg and Master P.  In 2000, McManus expanded Trace Entertainment to a full-service production company with a focus on feature films and television.  To date, McManus has produced four feature films, garnering several nominations and awards on festival circuits. Recently, McManus wrapped production on “Laugh at L.A.,” a stand up and sketch comedy television show starring Todd Bridges, Christopher “Kid” Reid (Kid n Play), and Mad TV’s Debra Wilson-Skelton.  Currently, he is in post-production on “Fathers of the Sport” starring Dr. J, a documentary chronicling the history of street basketball’s unsung legends and heroes which was nominated for best documentary feature at the 2008 Pan AfriCAn Film Festival and screened at the CAnnes Film Festival film market, the Marche Du Film, and is to be followed by a 2009 U.S. theatriCAl release through Hannover House distribution. Also in release on DVD is “Shut Up & Shoot!” a dark comedy action feature starring Joe Cortese, Gary Busey, and Tom Sizemore; “Bad Guys,” a Reservoir Dogs-type action thriller starring Latin sensation Kate De CAstillo and MMA world champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, which swept top award honors at the 2008 Beverly Hills Film Festival including the Audience Choice Award for Best Feature Film; and “Macumba,” a horror / comedy shot entirely on loCAtion in Lafayette, Louisiana in two languages and starring some of the Spanish film market’s hottest stars. McManus devotes considerable time to nurturing the budding film and television industry in his home state of Louisiana where he is a partner in Maxim Entertainment.  Maxim is currently in development on several films to begin shooting in 2009/10. 

Joe “Jellybean” Bryant---Associate Producer

As an ex-pro basketball player and father of NBA prodigy Kobe Bryant, Mr. Bryant brings deCAdes of NBA experience to the project. Mr. Bryant also possesses corporate relationships which lend a credibility that would otherwise be difficult to achieve.

H. Wayne Slappy---Executive Consultant/ Co-Writer

Mr. Slappy has been a skills trainer and basketball coach for thirty years. He has helped players like Michael Jordan and Derrick Fisher. He possesses a wealth of knowledge of playground history and will be essential in providing a “voice” to the project in regards to dialogue content. His ability to project the “actualness” of the history is a crucial component.

Kelvin Taylor - Music Supervisor

Kelvin Taylor, better known as "KT", is a multi-dimensional songwriter/ producer/ musician/  voCAlist who hails from Riverside, CA. He was mentored early in his CAreer by the infamous Antonio "LA" Reid and Kenneth "Babyface" Edmunds & has worked with a host of recording artist such as TLC, Coolio, Eric Benet, Da Brat, The Good Girls, Pebbles, Tupac Shakur, Dawn Robinson, Lighter Shade of Brown, & more. In 1993 he was signed to a publishing deal with SDM/Warner-Chappell Music, Inc. by Alan Melina. He has been active in projects such as the film "Mi Vida LoCA", stage play "You're All I Need To Get By- The Marvin Gaye/Tami Terrell Love Story", and has landed voice over gigs for a few major television and radio ads.

KT is currently music supervisor for this summer's powerful basketball documentary "Fathers Of The Sport", orchestrating an ensemble of musiCAl talent & tracks sure to be CAtapulted to the top of the charts. He is Vice President of Music at brand new record label Beyond Entertainment and is CEO of Entertainment Management team Momentum Inc.
